In
addition to his role as a major contributor to the world’s literary
heritage,
Charles Dickens was an avid amateur magician.
Acquiring his apparatus from London’s fabled Cranbrook Company,
Dickens
would retire to his parlour to entertain (and, hopefully, amaze) invited
guest.
Dickens Parlour Theatre recreates that
Victorian era, and Dickens’ own
theater of fantasy, in Atlantic City, N.J., at the fabulous Tropicana
Hotel.
Those fortunate enough to be in attendance at the theater will sit
in the
intimate comfort of a 30 seat parlor, surrounded by the recreated
majesty
of Victorian England and treated to a 45 minute magical presentation
by
award-winning conjurors from around the world.
Seats in this jewel of a magic forum are, of course, limited.
