Mind Reading Crayon

All right kiddies are you ready to spook your parents with a little mind reading?
Go get some crayons... just the basic colors like red, blue, yellow, orange and green.

Here is what happens:

You hand the crayons to your victim (Oops... I mean spectator!) then you turn your back and ask them to pick a crayon, remember the color and stick it in your hand. At this point they can hide the other crayons to keep you from "cheating". Without looking you are able to tell them which color they are thinking of!

How is this possible you say?

The secret is very clever so you must promise not to tell ANYONE how you were able to read their mind!

The Secret:

As soon as they hand you the crayon- turn back around so that you are now facing them while keeping the crayon behind your back. Now, as you tell them that you are about to read their mind, you secretly scrape the tip of the crayon with your thumbnail (Fig: 1) and don't be shy- get a big chunk of that wax under your nail! Bring this hand out in front of you and place your fingers on your head in the classic "mind reading" position (Fig: 2) Now this is the tricky part... You have to take a peek at your thumbnail without being TOO OBVIOUS! (As in Fig: 3) The color of the crayon is right there under your thumbnail (Fig: 4)
All that is left is for you to close your eyes and act like you are going into some sort of trance. Make it good. Swing your head side to side and do a lot of moaning and stuff. They will start to get a little freaked out.
Now in a dramatic tone tell them the color they are thinking of!
(Note: Some of the darker colors look a lot a like so make sure you pick colors that are easy to tell apart.)
